Alison Wenham OBE

Alison is one of the most experienced and well known international practitioners in the music business.

Founding AIM in 1999, as Chairman and CEO over the next 17 years she guided its growth and influence to become one of the most respected and successful trade associations in the world.

Alison’s focus and core remit was to work collectively to enable its members to grow, grasp new opportunities and break into new markets. This increasingly demanded leadership at an international level.

Alison developed AIM’s strength and visibility in representing the British music industry SMEs at a political level, working closely with relevant government departments to shape and advise on legislation relevant to the industry.

Prior to founding AIM, Alison was MD at BMG Entertainment International (UK), having sold Conifer Records (which under her direction had grown to be the UK’s largest independent record and distribution company in the specialist music field) to BMG in 1994.

In 2006 Alison was elected founding Chairman of WIN (Worldwide Independent Network), which comprises of over 25 independent trade associations representing thousands of independent music companies globally. After 12 years at the helm she made the decision to step down as Chief Executive.

 In 2006 Alison was inducted into the MMF Roll of Honour, and in March 2009 she was presented with a Special Achievement award by Music Week, for 10 years of AIM. During her tenure of Aim and WIN, she has featured in Billboard’s Top Women in Music every year since publication.

In 2010, Alison was honoured with an OBE, and in 2014 was awarded the prestigious Order of Arts and Letters from the French Government.
